Sports in which the movement is maintained for a long time are called endurance sports. These are to be distinguished from sports, which are more geared towards high-speed or high effort. During endurance sports, the entire organism and especially the cardiovascular system are exposed to increased stress. This has various positive effects, ranging from improving cognitive skills and generally better health in old age.
