The development of antibiotics such as penicillin was the basis for the successful treatment of bacterial infections. Even today, many infectious diseases would be fatal if antibiotics were not available for treatment. However, antibiotics are often used improperly, which on the one hand can have direct negative effects, for example on the intestinal flora of humans, and on the other hand has led to the increased development of antibiotic-resistant pathogens. The latter is also related to the use of antibiotics in industrial animal husbandry. Multi-resistant pathogens that are resistant to all common antibiotics are a growing problem in medicine today and the development of new antibacterial agents is therefore of particular interest.
