Human memory describes the ability to mentally recreate an experienced scenario from the past. In addition to pictorial elements and film scenes, the memory also stores noises and smells in the brain. Above all, however, emotions associated with the scenario are linked to a memory. Long-term sequential memory, also called episodic memory, is responsible for the memory. The intensity of memories also varies from person to person and also depending on the type of memory. This ranges from an almost real feeling for the situation to vague, vague images. According to psychological studies, similar memories that are often experienced merge into a scheme in which it is difficult to retrieve a single memory. Increasing age, accidents and illnesses can influence the memory and can lead to memory loss, memory gaps and memory weakness, for example. (vb)
